Against the Wind (1986)

Updated: Oct 11

Against the Wind is the 20th release by Christian singer - songwriter Dallas Holm. It was released in late 1986 on DaySpring/Word Records. It was produced by Neal Joseph. This is Holm's 17th studio album overall counting his previous projects with his band Praise. It is also Holm's first album without Praise after seven releases under the name Dallas Holm & Praise.

Holm rocks out a little on the title track as the lead single, while still maintaining his pop/AC sound. Guest artists on the album include First Call, Steven Curtis Chapman, former Praise member Rick Crawford and Paul Smith, who sings a duet with Holm on the track "Each Song I Sing." Holm also released a companion video album of the same name on VHS featuring six music videos. Against the Wind climbed up to number 9 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. In 1995, Benson Records reissued the album on CD. Against the Wind is currently out of print and is not available digitally. A YouTube link to listen to the album is posted below this article.

In 1988, Holm earned his first and only Grammy Award nomination for Best Gospel Performance, Male for his album Against the Wind.
