Allies (1985)

Allies is the self-titled debut album by the Christian rock band Allies. Released in the spring of 1985, it is the first of two albums on Light Records. The album was produced by Dino Elefante and Randy Thomas. The album deals with social issues from a spiritual perspective. The band took the name at face value as the group appeared on the album jacket cover in military fatigues. Their first single "Surrender" gave them their first Top 5 hit on both the Christian CHR and Christian Rock radio charts, aided by a music video. Their second single "Don't Run Away" climbed to number 9 on the Christian CHR chart. Allies climbed to number 24 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.

The album was recorded at Pakaderm Studios in Los Alamitos, California and was mixed by Dino Elefante. His brother John Elefante, former lead singer of Kansas and later, a vocalist himself, provided additional backing vocals. Allies was reissued and remastered on CD by Girder Records in 2021.
