Benny Hester is the second studio album by American singer - songwriter Benny Hester. It was originally released in 1978 on Sparrow Records' Spirit label. The album was produced by Brent Maher.
This was Hester's proper debut album as a contemporary Christian artist, released as a follow-up to his 1972 mainstream debut album Benny... It would be this album that ushered in the change of what Christian music would sound like leaving behind the sounds of the early Jesus Music era. In 1983, Benny Hester was reissued as Be a Receiver with an updated album cover on Hester's record label at the time, Myrrh/Word Records. It has not been released on CD and is not available digitally. A YouTube link to listen to the album is posted below this article.
NOTE: the tracks "Be a Receiver" and "Jesus Came Into My Life" are the only tracks to appear in the 1988 compilation album Personal Best, which is available on CD and digitally.
