Commander Sozo and the Charge of the Light Brigade is the sixth studio album by the Christian rock duo DeGarmo & Key, released on September 10, 1985 by Power Discs/Benson Records. The duo produced the album themselves.
Commander Sozo... was D&K's fourth Top 10 album, climbing up to number 7 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart by spring of 1986. Its two lead singles were both Top 10 hits and were made into music videos: "Competition" (Rock) and "Destined to Win" (AC/CHR). The latter track is a vocal duet with Gospel singer Jessy Dixon. "Destined to Win" also appears on Dixon's 1985 Power Discs album Silent Partner, which is produced by Key. D&K wrote all the songs on the album, with the exception of the opening track "Activate," which they co-wrote with their drummer Greg Morrow.
D&K was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group in 1986 for Commander Sozo... It is the duo's second Grammy nomination, their first in five years. They also earned their first Dove Award nomination for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year. They also released a collection of music videos on VHS entitled Visions of the Light Brigade featuring "Competition," "Destined to Win," two versions of "Six, Six, Six" (the original un-edited and the MTV re-edited) and "Alleluia, Christ is Coming." Commander Sozo... was reissued on CD in 1992 by ForeFront Records.
