D&K is the eighth studio album by the Christian rock duo DeGarmo & Key, released on October 31, 1987 by Power Discs/Benson Records. The duo produced the album with John Hampton.
It is D&K's most ambitious album to date. Continuing their arena rock sound from Street Light, the band rocks more on tracks like "Out of the Danger Zone," "War With the World" and "Rock Solid" featuring co-lead vocals by DeGarmo. It is DeGarmo's first co-lead performance on an album since 1979's Straight On track
"Livin' On the Edge of Dyin'" and the Hammond B-3 organ played by DeGarmo is prominently featured throughout D&K. D&K returned to the Christian AC chart with the lead single ballad "When the Son Begins to Reign," their first appearance on that chart in nearly two years while their lead rock single "Out of the Danger Zone" would top on that chart. DeGarmo dedicated the album to his late father Clifton Hamilton DeGarmo.
D&K was their first Top 5 album, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, thanks to a successful marketing campaign. On the cassette tape version, it was originally released as a boxed set containing two tapes; one for the purchaser and the other to give away to a friend or for someone who needs it as an evangelistic tool. Each of the ten songs has a Bible study that you can answer questions to. Reportedly, there were 100,000 copies of the double cassette version of the album.
D&K were nominated for Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year (the inaugural category) at the 1988 GMA Dove Awards and in 1989, they earned their fourth Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group for this album. D&K was reissued on CD in 1992 by ForeFront Records.
