Family Affair (1989)

Family Affair is the sixth solo album by American R&B singer - songwriter Philip Bailey, released on October 23, 1989 by Myrrh/Word Records. Bailey produced the album with musician Oliver W. Wells and is executive produced by Dan Posthuma.


Family Affair opens with a cover of Charlie Peacock's 1987 track "This is How the Work Gets Done." Bailey co-wrote the rest of the album with Wells co-writing seven songs and gospel musician Richard Smallwood co-wrote four songs. This was Bailey's third and final Gospel album. Fellow Gospel singer and friend Leon Patillo was one of the backing vocalists on the track "Call to War." Family Affair debuted and peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart in early 1990.
