Have Yourself Committed (1985)

Updated: Oct 23, 2023

Have Yourself Committed is the debut solo album by Christian singer - songwriter Bryan Duncan, released in 1985 on Light Records. The album is produced by Larry Brown.

After the release of Sweet Comfort Band's final album Perfect Timing in 1984, Duncan began work on his solo debut album with Duncan handling the vocal arrangements along with Bob Carlisle, who at the time was the lead singer of the Christian rock band Allies and a friend of Duncan's and producer Brown. Duncan, Carlisle and Christian singer/songwriter/producer Tim Miner did backing vocals. Duncan's former Sweet Comfort Band member and current member of Allies Randy Thomas played electric guitar on a couple of tracks. The album's sound is a mix of pop and jazz with R&B touches of blue-eyed soul.

The title song became Duncan's first solo number one song on the Christian CHR chart with "A Child's Love" and "Darkness is Falling" becoming Christian radio hits as well. Have Yourself Committed peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
