Home Free is the seventh studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Wayne Watson, released on August 27, 1990 by DaySpring/Word Records. The album was produced by Watson and Paul Mills.
The title song, "Home Free," was inspired by the death of a close friend of Watson's named Sandra Kirkham, who was a wife and mother and died at the age of 33 of leukemia. Watson dedicated the album to her and her family. Home Free's overall sound is more adult contemporary than in his previous albums and does have a mix of worship songs ("Almighty") and upbeat pop songs ("Teenager in the House"). The lead single "When God's People Pray" topped the Christian AC chart for two weeks. At the same time, Watson was also charting with a duet with Christian singer Sandi Patty on the track "Another Time, Another Place (from Patty's album of the same name) and also topped the same chart just a few weeks after "When God's People Pray."
Home Free peaked at the Top 10 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart at number 7. In 1992, Watson won a Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for the title song at the 23rd GMA Dove Awards. Watson wrote all the songs on the album.
