Justice (1989)

Updated: Jun 22

Justice is the ninth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Steve

Camp, released in 1989 on Sparrow Records. Camp produced the album himself.

Justice is an album that deals with social issues that are not normally addressed in evangelical Christian circles, including the AIDS-themed lead single "Do You Feel Their Pain?" Camp co-wrote song with his first wife Kim Maxfield and features guest solo vocals from Petra lead singer John Schlitt, Margaret Becker, BeBe Winans and Steve Green. It was a signature theme song for ACCT (AIDS Crises and Christians Today), an organization founded by Camp and speaker/author Tony Campolo. The Bruce Hornsby-ish piano ballad "Living Dangerously in the Hands of God" (with programmed drums) states the overall theme that Christians social action means not only confronting a system but also being conformed to Christ and his cross.

Camp covers Christian music legend and friend Larry Norman's song "The Great American Novel." Justice, overall, is a temporary return to his Christian rock sound, particularly the title song which aims at exploitative televangelists. The album climbed to number 15 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
