Love Life (1991)

Updated: Jul 20

Love Life is the fourth studio album by singer - songwriter Charlie Peacock, released on October 24, 1991 by Sparrow Records. Peacock wrote the entire album and co-produced it with Rick Will.

After the release of The Secret of Time, Peacock experienced his first real taste of mainstream success as a co-writer of Amy Grant's #2 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Every Heartbeat" from her best-seller Heart in Motion that summer while recording Love Life. The album spoke candidly-but tastefully-about relationships, primarily those between husbands and wives. From the cautionary "Another Woman in Tears" to the steamy "Kiss Me Like a Woman," Peacock spoke truth in a way listeners had rarely heard on Christian radio. Some Christian bookstores refused to carry the album due to those songs' nature and subject matter. The first single "In the Light" became a Christian CHR smash topping that chart for 8 weeks and was a Top 20 hit on the Christian AC chart. Christian rap/rock trio DC Talk covered the song on their 1995 big seller Jesus Freak, even Peacock providing guest vocals at the end of the song, taking it to number one on the Christian CHR chart a second time. (A Christian hit radio first). "In the Light" was named as one of the 100 Greatest Songs in Christian Music by CCM Magazine in 2006 ranking it at number 71.

Peacock dedicated Love Life to his wife Andi Ashworth writing on the liner notes:

"You've been a patient teacher regarding the ways of a woman, the path of honesty and the things of the heart. Thank you again and again." The album peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and was named as one of the 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music in 2001, ranking it at number 15, eleven spots higher than his 1990 album The Secret of Time on this list.
