No Compromise is the second studio album by Christian singer - songwriter
Keith Green. It was released on November 9, 1978 by Sparrow Records.
The title of the album derives from the track "Make My Life a Prayer to You," which was written solely by Keith's wife Melody, which begins: "Make my life a prayer to You / I wanna do what You want me to / No empty words and no white lies / no token prayers, no compromise." (The title was used for the official Keith Green biography written by his wife Melody Green and in the 1992 tribute album No Compromise: Remembering the Music of Keith Green featuring Christian artists covering his songs)
The album cover art refers to the Book of Esther in the Bible, specifically the part where Mordecai refused to bow to Haman. Much like Green's debut album, No Compromise was produced by Bill Maxwell, who also contributed some of the instrumental playing on the album along with Keith Green himself. In addition to "Make My Life a Prayer to You," more Green signature songs came from this album including "How Can They Live Without Jesus?" and "Asleep in the Light."
Three of his songs charted for the first time on CCM Magazine's combined Christian AC/CHR chart in 1979 with "Asleep in the Light," "Soften Your Heart" and "Dear John Letter (To the Devil)." Green sings a cover of Christian singer - songwriter Jamie Owens-Collins' track "The Victor," which she recorded on her 1976 album Growing Pains.
In 1980, the album, along with For Him Who Has Ears to Hear, made its first appearance on Billboard magazine's first ever Top Inspirational Albums chart (renamed Top Christian Albums) and peaked at number 5.
