R.I.O.T. (Righteous Invasion of Truth) is the tenth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Carman, released on November 15, 1995 by Sparrow Records. The album was produced by Brown Bannister and Tommy Sims.
R.I.OT. has an eclectic mix of rock, pop, big band and country and includes a "sermon song" called "There Is A God." Country and bluegrass singer Ricky Skaggs provided backing vocals on the country-themed track "Step of Faith" and has even appeared in the song's music video. The album is also accompanied by a film, titled R.I.O.T. - The Movie. Originally released as a two-part movie released separately, the two films were combined as one release on VHS and features eight music videos.
The film stars Carman as a policeman named Vic Pizzo, raising his two kids on his own in Chicago after the death of his wife. Following a close call with a gang member, Vic decides to leave Chicago and he and his family move to the country in Oklahoma only to find that he can't run away from his problems. Vic will do whatever it takes to protect his family from the gang members who are following and threatening them.
R.I.O.T. topped the Top Christian Albums and made its Billboard Top 200 Albums chart debut and peaked at number 45. The album has been Gold certified for sales of half a million copies by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) by May 13, 1996.
