Simple House (1991)

Updated: Dec 27, 2023

Simple House is the fourth studio album by Christian rock singer -songwriter Margaret Becker, released in 1991 on Sparrow Records.

Simple House is a blend of pop and R&B influence, with some songs verging on the experimental - both in concept and vocally. There are a couple of dance songs like the title song and "Talk About Love." Charlie Peacock, who produced Becker's 1989 album Immigrant's Daughter, and Becker were allowed to really let go and be free to express themselves without regard to monetary considerations.

Becker earned her third Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Gospel Album for Simple House at the 34th Grammy Awards. Becker won two Dove Awards for Rock Album of the Year and Rock Recorded Song of the Year (both given to Becker and Peacock) at the 23rd GMA Dove Awards. The album peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, giving Becker her first Top Ten album.
