Solo (2001)

Updated: Jun 12

Solo is a 7-song extended play by the Christian vocal trio DC Talk, released on April 24, 2001 by ForeFront Records.

The EP consists of the band member's solo efforts with the exception of a live-performance cover of U2's "40," which is their last recorded performance together before they went their separate ways. Toby McKeehan (now going by his stage name TobyMac), Michael Tait with his band Tait and Kevin Max each have two songs and all three have released their solo/group albums containing those songs later in 2001:

-TobyMac released his first solo album Momentum containing "Somebody's Watching" sampling the 1984 Rockwell song "Somebody's Watching Me" and "Extreme Days."

-Kevin Max released his first solo album Stereotype Be containing "Be" and "Return of the Singer."

-Tait (Michael Tait's namesake band) released their first album Empty containing "Alibi" and "All You Got." Tait released their second album Lose This Life in 2003 then in 2007, the band went on hiatus. Tait is now the lead singer of the Australian Christian rock band Newsboys since 2010.

Solo would be DC Talk's final appearance on the album charts which debuted and peaked at number 142 on the Billboard 200 Albums and number 5 on the Top Christian Albums charts. DC Talk won their fourth and final Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album at the 44th Grammy Awards.
