Streams (1999)

Streams is a Christian compilation album released on June 1, 1999 by Word Records. Streams is a concept album focusing on pain and healing and is produced by Brent Bourgeois and Loren Balman.


The album highlights include a collaboration with 4Him and Jon Anderson (former lead singer of the progressive rock band Yes) on the track "The Only Thing I Need," a cover of Peter Gabriel's song "Don't Give Up" performed by Máire Brennan and Michael McDonald and "Breathe" performed by Sixpence None the Richer. English Christian band Delirious? records a new version of "Find Me in the River" with Amy Grant providing additional vocals. Other artists contributing on Streams include Jaci Velasquez, Point of Grace, Cindy Morgan and instrumental scores by the Irish Film Orchestra with arrangements and conducting by Carl Marsh.


The album debuted and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. An updated edition of the daily devotional Streams in the Desert by L. B. Cowman was also released as a companion book to the album. In 2000, Streams won the Dove Award for Special Event Album of the Year, given to the participating artists and producers Bourgeois and Balman at the 31st GMA Dove Awards. The album is listed at number 78 in CCM Magazine's 2001 book The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.
