Street Light (1986)

Street Light (sometimes stylized as Streetlight) is the seventh studio album by

the Christian rock duo DeGarmo & Key, released on September 26, 1986 by Power Discs/Benson Records. The duo produced the album with John Hampton.

Street Light was a "return to rock" album by D&K, after the successful releases of their previous 80s pop/rock albums, Mission of Mercy, Communication and Commander Sozo and the Charge of the Light Brigade. The lead single and music video for "Every Moment" shot to the top of both the Christian CHR and Christian Rock charts. Because of its rock content on Street Light, no tracks charted on the Christian AC chart, even though there are a couple of slower songs like "Up On a Cross" and "Inside Out." D&K recorded a new version of "Addey," that they originally recorded for their 1978 debut album This Time Thru.

Street Light was D&K's fifth Top 10 album on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart as it peaked at number 7 by the fall of 1986. In 1987, D&K earned their third Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group for their album and at the Dove Awards, they were nominated for Group of the Year and Short Form Music Video of the Year for "Every Moment."

That same year, D&K released a program on VHS entitled The Air Care Project: Rock 'n' Roll Outreach to Africa featuring music videos for "Every Moment," "Up On a Cross," "Activate" and "Casual Christian" as well as concert footage and the band's involvement with Mission Aviation Fellowship. It is a Christian organization

that provides aviation, communications, and learning technology services to more than 1,000 Christian and humanitarian agencies, as well as thousands of isolated missionaries and indigenous villagers in the world's most remote areas, such as Africa, where they were filming on location for this program. Street Light

was reissued on CD in 1992 by ForeFront Records.
