The Roar of Love is the fourth studio album by the Christian vocal trio 2nd Chapter of Acts. It was released in 1980 on Sparrow Records. The album is produced by Buck Herring.
The Roar of Love is a concept album that recounts the story of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first published book in The Chronicles of Narnia, a series by British author C. S. Lewis. It was recorded in 1976, prior to their third studio album Mansion Builder, but its release was delayed by contractual and copyright issues. According to trio member Matthew Ward, all the vocals were cut in a bedroom of the house the trio lived in at the time. They converted their garage into a mixing room, knocked a hole in the bedroom wall and ran a microphone cord into it. The songs have a heavy use of synthesizers, courtesy of musician Michael Omartian. Trio member Annie Herring wrote the entire album, with the exception of the final track "White Stag" which was written collectively by the trio of Herring, Ward and Nelly Greisen.
The Roar of Love climbed to the Top 10 on the Billboard Top Inspirational Albums chart (later renamed Top Christian Albums), peaking at number 4. In 1989, the album was re-issued on CD by Live Oak Records and again in 1991 by Sparrow Records. On the CD and digital releases, the tracks "Christmas, Where Are You?" and "Gifts from Father Christmas" are combined into one track, simply titled "Christmas, Where Are You?," totaling 13 tracks.
