The Way Home is the fourth studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Russ Taff, released in 1989 on Myrrh/Word Records.
In this album, Taff changes musical styles once again departing from the alternative rock of 1987's Russ Taff and replacing it with a mix of country and roots rock. The Way Home was critically received, especially by CCM Magazine and listed this album at number 11 in their 2001 book 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music. The album would give Taff his first and only number one on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. The Way Home was produced by Taff and his collaborator James Hollihan, Jr. Music videos were made for "Winds of Change" and "I Cry" to promote the album. Taff records a cover of "The River Unbroken" that was originally recorded by Dolly Parton on her 1987 album Rainbow.
Taff won two Dove Awards for Rock Album of the Year and "The River Unbroken" won Rock Recorded Song of the Year at the 21st GMA Dove Awards. The track "Farther On" was nominated for a Grammy for Best Gospel Performance, Male.
