The World As Best As I Remember It, Volume One is the fifth studio album by Christian singer -songwriter Rich Mullins, released in 1991 on Reunion Records.
It is the first in a two-volume series called The World As Best As I Remember It.
According to Mark Allen Powell in his book Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music "the project displays maturity in musical presentation and in his vocal style, while the lyrical quality of the material remains strong." Mullins collaborates for the first time with his friend David Strasser, also known by his nickname Beaker.
Beaker wrote the worship song "Step by Step" to begin and end Volume One. "Step by Step" would be incorporated into "Sometimes By Step" with additional lyrics by Mullins on The World As Best As I Remember It, Volume Two. "Step by Step" was ranked at number 21 in CCM Magazine's 2006 book The 100 Greatest Songs in Christian Music while Volume One was ranked at number 7 in the 2001 book The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music. Volume One also includes another worship song "I See You." Michael W. Smith would later cover the song twice: first on his self-produced various artists worship album Exodus and on his live album Worship Again. Volume One peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
