Triumph (1986)

Updated: Jul 16

Triumph is the fifth solo album by American R&B singer - songwriter Philip Bailey, released on October 7, 1986 by Myrrh/Word Records and Horizon Records, a division of A&M Records. Bailey produced the album himself, with George Duke

co-producing "Marvelous" and Jerry Peters co-producing the title song.

It is Bailey's second Gospel album with more Christian radio hits like "Thank You,"

"Marvelous" and "All Soldiers." In early 1987, Triumph peaked at number 18 on the Top Christian Albums and number 34 on the Top Gospel Albums charts in Billboard magazine. Bailey won a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance, Male for the album that same year.

NOTE: on the digital album version, the original album track "Thank You" was replaced by the extended remix version, as heard in the 1989 remix compilation album Adventures in the Land of Big Beats and Happy Feets.
