Wayne Watson (2000)

Updated: Oct 1

Wayne Watson is the self-titled 12th studio album by Christian singer - songwriter Wayne Watson, released on July 18, 2000 by Word Records. The album was produced by Michael Omartian and Jerry McPherson.

It is Watson's most personal album to date. He offers tribute to his late father on the track "Turning into Dad" and mourns overlooked victims of the Columbine High School shooting on "The Ones Left Standing." "Merciful Heaven" expresses that while life may not be fair, people may at least be thankful that they do not get what they deserve. Wayne Watson debuted and peaked at number 36 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. Watson wrote all the songs on the album.

In 2001, the album was nominated for a Dove Award for Inspirational Album of the Year.
