White Heart (1983)

Updated: Jun 15

White Heart is the debut studio album by the Christian rock band White Heart, recorded in 1982 and released in 1983 on Home Sweet Home Records.

It is the first and only album to feature Gaither Vocal Band vocalist Steve Green on lead vocals. Green would leave the band after the album's release saying that rock music was not his style vocally. He would go on to be a successful inspirational singer in the vein of Sandi Patty and release his first solo album in 1984. Patty sings co-lead vocals with lead guitarist Dann Huff on the track "Everyday" and Michael W. Smith played piano and co-wrote on the track "Black is White." The album is produced by members Huff and Billy Smiley. White Heart climbed to number 10 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. The band earned their first Grammy Award nomination in 1984 for Best Gospel Performance by a Duo or Group at the 26th Grammy Awards and was nominated for a Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year at the 15th GMA Dove Awards. The song "He's Returning" featuring vocals by Green and Huff was one of their earliest hits.
